SUMMARY:Part 1: Physically Strong\, Physically Literate: Strength Training as Part of Lifelong Fitness
DESCRIPTION:Part 1:This session begins by addressing the growing responsibility placed on PE teachersand youth coaches to lead resistance and strength training programs—often withoutformal training. Participants will explore why strength and conditioning must be educational\, student centered\, and developmentally appropriate\, rather than exclusively performance focused.Emphasis is placed on grounding instruction in scientific principles\, student interests\, and long-term physical development and enjoyment. Key topics include effective class management and organization\, establishing a safe training environment\, embedding technique instruction into lessons\, and promoting physical literacy through clear routines\, progressions\, and expectations. Structured resistance training is framed as a tool for learning\, confidence building\, and engagement—not just physical outcomes.

SUMMARY:Physical Education: The Gateway to Language Acquisition
DESCRIPTION:This session explores effective language acquisition strategies tailored for the physical education environment to support our emergent multilingual learners (EMLs). With movement-rich settings offering a natural context for language development\, PE teachers are uniquely positioned to reinforce both academic and social language. Participants will learn practical\, low-prep strategies that integrate physical activity with intentional language supports -- such as visual cues\, structured routines\, modeling\, and student talk opportunities. The session will highlight how aligning instruction with content and language objectives not only boosts engagement but also creates a more inclusive and equitable learning experience. Attendees will leave with ready-to-use tools that foster comprehension\, participation\, and confidence for EMLs\, without sacrificing the integrity of their PE program. Whether you're new to supporting multilingual learners or looking to enhance your current practices\, this session provides actionable approaches that make language acquisition a natural part of every PE class.\n\n

SUMMARY:"INTRODUCTION TO BEHAVIORAL ADDICTIONS & DIGITAL MEDIA OVERUSE (DMO)"
DESCRIPTION:\nThis presentation examines digital media overuse (DMO) as a form of behavioral addiction and its impact on youth mental health and academic functioning. Negative outcomes related to different kinds of use\, especially when screen time displaces essential developmental activities such as sleep\, physical activity\, academic work\, and face-to-face social interaction will be discussed. Mental health related outcomes &nbsp\;like &nbsp\;increased risk of depression\, social isolation\, and suicide-related issues are shared. The presentation highlights how digital platforms are intentionally designed to exploit core psychological needs\; competence\, relatedness\, and autonomy\, thereby reinforcing compulsive use patterns. Particular risks are outlined across domains including gaming\, social media\, AI chatbots\, online shopping\, gambling pathways\, and early exposure to pornography. Vulnerability is heightened among youth with ADHD\, anxiety\, depression\, and executive functioning challenges. Prevention and intervention strategies that are focused on reducing screen time\, strengthening real-world social connections\, and promoting “low dopamine” activities such as outdoor play\, reading\, and exercise will be discussed. Practical guidance includes establishing screen boundaries\, prioritizing developmental tasks\, and fostering open\, empathetic communication with youth.

SUMMARY:Physical Education:The Gateway to Language Acquisition

SUMMARY:Intelligent Assessment in Physical Education: Using AI to Increase Efficiency and Effectiveness
DESCRIPTION:Assessment in physical education is complex. Large class sizes\, movement-based learning\, and limited time often push grading toward “participation points” rather than meaningful evidence of student learning. This interactive\, hands-on session is designed specifically for K–12 physical education teachers who want to use artificial intelligence (AI) to make assessment more efficient\, more aligned to standards\, and more impactful.\nParticipants will learn practical strategies for using AI to generate standards-aligned rubrics\, formative assessments\, and cognitive and affective learning checks. Through guided demonstrations and structured practice\, teachers will apply effective prompting techniques to create tools tailored to their own upcoming units. The session will also demonstrate how AI can assist with analyzing skill progress\, identifying trends in student data\, and informing instructional decisions.\nImportantly\, this workshop emphasizes ethical\, safe\, and responsible AI use in schools—protecting student privacy while maintaining teacher judgment and professional expertise. Attendees will leave with ready-to-use prompts\, templates\, and clear boundaries for implementation\, ensuring AI enhances\, rather than replaces\, high-quality physical education teaching and learning.
